  • What is the difference between microblading and microshading?

Microblading and microshading are both popular eyebrow enhancement techniques, but they differ in their methods and results.

Microblading uses a small, handheld blade to create fine hair-like strokes that mimic your natural eyebrow hairs. It’s ideal for clients looking for a more natural brow solution.

On the other hand, microshading uses a machine to create a soft, powdery finish, giving the brows more volume and definition. This technique is perfect for mature skin or clients or looking for polished and fuller look.

Still unsure about which procedure suits your needs? Book a consultation now.

  • Does the combo brow service involve microblading too?

Yes, involves both microblading and microshading! This technique combines the best of both worlds: the natural, hair-like strokes of microblading and the soft, powdery finish of microshading. Microblading is used to create a realistic, natural base by mimicking individual brow hairs, while microshading adds depth and fullness for a more defined look. The combo brow is perfect for clients who want natural-looking eyebrows with a touch of extra definition.

  • How long does microblading or microshading last?

Microblading typically lasts between 1-3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for your brows post-procedure. Generally, those with oily skin may require more frequent touch-ups, while clients with normal skin may enjoy longer-lasting results. Regular touch-ups are recommended to keep your brows looking fresh and natural. As a microblading artist specializing in natural brow enhancements, I ensure that your results complement your face and stay beautifully natural over time.

  • Why is oily skin a contradiction for microblading?

Excess oil production can cause the pigment to blur or fade faster, making it difficult to achieve the crisp, hair-like strokes that microblading is known for. Over time, the pigment may not hold as well, resulting in a less defined look.

However, this doesn’t mean that individuals with oily skin cannot benefit from brow enhancements. Techniques like powder brows or ombé brows often work better for oily skin types because the pigment is implanted with a machine. Microshading tends to last longer also!

If you’re not sure where to start, just schedule a consultation with me and I’ll be happy to recommend the best approach to suit your skin type to achieve beautiful, long-lasting results.

  • Does microblading or microshading hurt?

Most of my clients report minimal discomfort, generally a 2-4 out of 10, depending on the technique. After the first pass, I apply an analgesic to numb the brow area completely.

While you may feel a slight scratching or pressure during microblading, it’s often described as more of a mild annoyance than pain. Microshading typically feels even less invasive since the technique uses a stippling method with a machine rather than a microblade.

If you’re concerned about pain, I specialize in creating a comfortable and relaxing environment for clients seeking natural brow enhancements. You can also book a consultation so I can address any questions or concerns you have to ensure you feel confident about the process!

  • What should I expect during the session?

The appointment lasts 2-3 hours, depending on the service. In the first hour, I map the brows for shape approval. We won’t move forward without your approval. Then I will select a pigment considering your skin tones and hair color. The remaining of the appointment will consist of the procedure. At the end of the appointment, I will give you a healing ointment with instructions for post-care that you can follow at home.

  • Will I be red or swollen after the brow procedure?

While most of my clients experience minimal swelling, some clients experience some redness and slight swelling immediately after a microblading or microshading procedure. This is a natural response as your skin begins to heal.

This typically subsides within half an hour. After the procedure, your brows will oxidize and appear darker over the next few days, but this is temporary and part of the healing process. As a microblading and microshading expert, I provide aftercare instructions to ensure your natural brow enhancement heals beautifully. If you follow the recommended aftercare steps, your results will settle into a soft, natural look.

  • Why will my brows heal lighter than it appears after the procedure?

Your brows heal about 20-30% lighter than they appear immediately after the procedure because of the natural healing process. After microblading or microshading, the pigment is freshly applied, making your brows look darker and more defined. As days go by and the brows oxidize, the pigment will naturally flake off, which is completely normal. As your skin heals, a layer of new skin forms over the area, causing the pigment to appear softer and lighter.

This is why a touch-up session is essential—it helps refine the color and fill in any areas where the pigment may have faded unevenly. The result is a beautifully balanced, natural-looking brow enhancement.

  • What is the recovery process like?

The recovery process after microblading or microshading typically lasts 7-14 days, depending on your skin type and how well you follow aftercare instructions. During this time, avoid getting your brows wet, heavy sweating, and direct sun exposure. I provide every client with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

Immediately after the procedure, your brows may appear darker and slightly swollen, but this is temporary.

Over the first few days, the pigment may look more intense, and you might notice slight tenderness. By days 7-14, light scabbing or flaking may occur as your skin begins to heal. It’s important not to pick at the scabs, as this can affect the final results.

After the second week, your brows will start to soften and lighten as the skin fully heals. After 4-6 weeks, the brows will be fully healed.

A touch-up session is optional and can be scheduled to help perfect your natural brow enhancement for long-lasting results.

  • Can my previous work be corrected if it’s done poorly?

In some cases, brow corrections can be done if the previous work isn’t too dark and/or the pigment or ink isn’t too dark.

Whether the color is off, the shape doesn’t suit your face, or the strokes have faded too quickly, I specialize in eyebrow tattoo correction to help restore a more flattering, natural look. Through careful assessment and techniques, I will strive to improve the shape, color, and overall design of your brows to achieve a positive improvement than what you may walk in with!

  • Can I still wear makeup or wash my face?

After your microblading or microshading procedure, it’s essential to follow specific aftercare guidelines to ensure proper healing. You should avoid applying makeup directly on or around your brows for at least 10-14 days, as this can introduce bacteria to the area and affect the healing process. However, you can still wear makeup on other areas of your face, as long as you’re careful not to let it come into contact with your brows.

When it comes to washing your face, try to avoid direct water onto the brows for the first 7 days. Instead, use a damp cloth to gently clean around your brows. For the rest of your face, use a mild cleanser and avoid scrubbing near the treated area. I’ll provide you with clear aftercare instructions to help you protect your new natural brow enhancement and achieve the best results!

  • How do I care for my eyebrows after microblading?

Proper aftercare is essential to ensuring your microblading or microshading results last as long as possible.

Immediately after your appointment, avoid getting your brows wet, and refrain from heavy sweating, sun exposure, or using skincare products that could irritate the area. To support the healing process, use a gentle cleanser and the moisturizing cream that I will send you home with.

For long-term maintenance, you can wear a hat to reduce sun exposure and avoid lasers or acidic products on the brows. I will provide you with a detailed aftercare guide tailored to your treatment to ensure your brows remain fresh, natural, and youthful.
